What to do with collections

Many of you have a bit of a “collecting ” in us… but what do you do with it?  Do you buy it and put it away or do you display it to share with your friends?

I would use the most favorite pieces of your special interest collection and put them as a group in a focal point of your home.  What I would not do is put a little here and a little there all over.  You want your display to look well thought out and not jumbled up.

In order to do this,  I would lay them out on the floor if you are choosing to hang on the walls and play with the grouping before hanging them. If you are just using a surface to display or a cabinet, of course you can also move those items much easier to get it just right so everything is well balanced and shown perfectly.

Here are a few photos to give you some ideas of pretty displays of collections.  If you have any questions please email sandra@sandrabunndesigns.com.

Treasures

Thrift store treasures…..are items that you see in a used furniture store, antique store, vintage store, garage sales or along the roadside.  If you see potential in the piece and have a use for it in your design….this makes it a treasure.   Sure the piece may need a bit of work but that is the fun part.

Finding an old chair which has the right frame and style….grab it!  Make your deal and have fun with it.  I am suggesting that you don’t just throw any old fabric on it and paint the frame yourself (only if you can do it perfectly), have it done properly.  Beautiful fabric and a professional upholstery re-do, voila, you have the perfect chair for your home.  The best thing too….is NO ONE else has this chair, it’s a one of a kind.

Just be patient and have a bit of a vision and you can do it.

Here are a few examples of some treasures re-wound.  If you have any questions, please email me at sandra@sandrabunndesigns.com or call me.

Pops of Color

Maybe you can’t imagine what colors to put together.  My suggestion that you do most of the room in neutrals or whites or grays and then add lighter or darker tones of that same neutral that you chose and then add that 1 crazy color.  Here are a few ideas.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at sandra@sandrabunndesigns.com or call at 561-254-5821.  Here are a few examples.
